The House of Fabergé has just released a new print advertising campaign with world renowned fashion photographer Mario Testino that aims to reinterpret Fabergé for a new generation.

The idea behind the campaign was to capture the spirit and personality of youth by shooting real young people interacting with their friends, Fabergé said in a statement. Josh Fabergé, a young Fabergé descendent, was chosen as a model for the campaign along with three of his contemporaries—Mélanie de Pouqueville, Nina Flohr and Sophia Flohr.

In addition to Testino, the team behind the black and white advertising campaign include: Katharina Flohr, Fabergé creative and managing director, fashion stylist Carine Roitfeld and makeup artist Charlotte Tilbury.

“We wanted to celebrate la jeunesse doree (gilded youth) with this campaign and make Fabergé relevant to a younger audience,” Katharina Flohr said. “We invited Josh and his friends to discover Fabergé for themselves, engaging with the jewelry, mixing it up and layering the pendants however they like. The result is a compelling image that tells the story of a new generation reinterpreting Fabergé for their contemporaries.”

The new black and white visuals will run in spring issues of niche, trend-driven titles in key international markets, the brand said. It will feature Les Favorites de Fabergé—a collection of fine jewelry egg pendants that introduces a more accessible price point for young customers.

The new generation campaign complements Fabergé’s inaugural advertising campaign, also shot by Mario Testino, which was introduced in November 2011 promoting the company’s high jewelry product line, Fabergé said.

The new campaign features:

Zénaïde Sapphire Egg Pendant Locket
One of a series of three Fabergé egg locket pendants designed in the graphic style of traditional Uzbek textiles and named for the Princess Zénaïde Yusupov, a favorite of the Imperial family.

Oeuf Cadeau Egg Pendant
This egg pendant celebrates Fabergé’s art of giving. The polished rose gold egg is tied with a ribbon of diamonds, of over one carat, and fastened with a bow.

Oeuf Matelassé Diamants Egg Pendant
The small quilted egg pendant from the Matelassé series, recalls the fashionable jeweled egg pendants of the House of Fabergé. The soft, cushioned quilting in matt white gold is studded with white diamonds.

For all of its success, the Swiss luxury watch industry has a bit of an image problem. The tradition of watchmaking that the industry uses so well to sell its high-end timepieces also lends itself to the criticism that it is a business that lacks the energy of youth. Girard-Perregaux is trying to dispel this image by telling the stories of its younger watchmakers and the diversity they offer the industry.

The La Chaux-de-Fonds-based brand recently launched the print and online journal, The New Face of Tradition, Eight Young Watchmakers and the Art of Making Time. The campaign shows a dynamic image of the young watchmakers behind the brand, featuring their interests outside of their jobs, such as music, sports and hobbies.

On May 1, Those in New York will have a chance to meet four of the young watchmakers during an event at Cipriani Dolci. In addition to revealing their journals, the watchmakers will be giving one-on-one workshops to watch connoisseurs and guests for insight on watchmaking and what goes into creating these complicated timepieces.

“We are proud of the young artists we share our passion for watchmaking with and are excited to show to the world who they are,” said Michele Sofisti, CEO of Sowind Group (the parent company of Girard-Perregaux and JeanRichard). “The New Face of Tradition seeks to break away from the current image many people have of the craft. It is not an antique and certainly not a dead art; it is young, revitalized and constantly evolving, much like the people behind it."

New York City is the first stop of The Girard-Perregaux Young Watchmakers Tour. Later this year the tour will move on to Beijing, Paris and other international cities.

Mila Kunis, recently named “Sexiest Woman Alive,” by Esquire, is the newest ambassador and the face of the latest advertising campaign for colored gemstone producer, Gemfields.

In a statement Gemfields said that Kunis was chosen “for her natural beauty, versatility, intelligence and love of rare colored gems.”

Gemfields primary business is the mining, distribution and marketing of emeralds from the Kagem mine in Zambia. It is working to produce a mine-to-market strategy for their emeralds that it says will be ethical, transparent and sustainable. The company recently acquired Fabergé, and is supplying the luxury brand with Kagem emeralds for its newest creations. Both companies are controlled by Pallinghurst Resources, a private equity company focused on the mining sector.

The advertising campaign with Kunis is photographed by Mario Sorrenti and styled by Anastasia Barbieri, featuring “a fresh-faced and modern Kunis wearing one-of-a-kind emerald and ruby jewelry created by six of Gemfields’ designer partners: Alexandra Mor, Amrapali, Dominic Jones, The Gem Palace, Sutra and Fabergé.”

Kunis toured Kagem, accompanied by Ian Harebottle, Gemfields CEO, and visited several Gemfields-sponsored community projects, including schools and a farming cooperative.

“While in Africa, I learned that the entire journey that each Gemfields stone takes is carefully considered and that the environment and the local communities where its mines are located are held in the highest regard,” said Kunis.

“Mila has blown me away with her energy, enthusiasm and dedication,” Harebottle said.

The global advertising program is running in leading publications in India and is part of a several initiatives in a multi-pronged consumer campaign that Gemfields will roll out this year.

The Kagem mine also produces amethysts. Gemfields other business include a mine in Mozambique for rubies, and prospecting licenses for other gemstones in Madagascar.
